I have come across many photos of swans and, of course, they are very lovely. But, when I came across this one, I just loved the earthy tones of the watery background. It was different and I love different. I also loved the coolness of the body and the warmth of the head and neck of the swan. Swans are so beautiful, but I have seen some photos of them acting like derps. LOL! Just keepin’ it real.
This is a 12 3/4 by 18 1/4 pastel drawing on velour paper. I determined, before I got started, that I would try not to blend at all and to keep the strokes loose and free. I think I have succeeded. It was very enjoyable and relaxing and I am very happy with the result.
I am not selling my originals right now, because I am hoping to have an exhibition in the near future of my bird series. YIKES! I can’t believe I am telling the whole world! Yeah, like the whole world is looking at my blog… LOL! Well, if I do have an exhibition, will you come? My originals will be for sale then.

Wow, lovely swan indeed, and we all noticed the earthy water in the background too, and though you nailed that. š Wish we could make the showing!!!
When (not IF) you have your exhibition, I will be there.
The swan looks so much better in person. I love it.
