Isle of Staffa

The Isle of Staffa is an uninhabited island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It is mostly rock which stands in columns. This picture is soft pastels on 9×12 sanded paper.

I got the photo from the book, Scottish Symphony. I get a lot of big old coffee table books with wonderful photography at thrift stores. Or I used to before the thrift stores around here decided to stop dealing in books. But, I still have the library book store. Yay!

There are few places in my life that I’ve found more ruggedly beautiful than the Highlands of Scotland. The place is magical – it’s so far north, so remote, that sometimes it feels like you’ve left this world and gone to another. – Julia London
